A Deep Dive into Watermedia

Acrylic and watercolor are the perfect mediums for working intuitively and spontaneously, as well as to practice observational art. This workshop focuses on mixing and layering acrylics with ease while building confidence with expressive brush strokes. We will also embrace modern watercolor techniques of ink and wash; learning to control water and paint consistency to enhance the most magical characteristics of this medium.
There will be exercises in abstraction, as well as studies from life, landscape, and photo resources. You will be encouraged to focus on your favorite water medium if you choose. At the end of the week, you will have a small series of paintings on a theme(s) of your choice. There will be plenty of creative prompts, exercises, and technical demos if you prefer more direction, and lots of flexibility if you prefer to work more independently. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or a complete beginner, this will be a creatively liberating and inspirational week.
