Sparkling fresh talent meets world-class guidance! ✨🩰🎭

Our Children's Dance and Theatre Auxillary programs concluded with delightful culminating performances, where budding stars shone with the support of our premier faculty and Academy students.

From modern to hip-hop to ballet, our dance program brings training to children (ages 3-12) of the Idyllwild community and is instructed by Academy Dance Chair and American Ballet Theatre Affiliate Teacher/NTC Fellow Ellen Rosa-Taylor. The theater workshop is an upbeat and fun introduction to the wonderful world of Musical Theatre, helping to build confidence, create new friendships and enhance the school curriculum. Leading the way is Dimyana Pelev Dysart, who is also on the theatre faculty at Idyllwild Arts and Chaffey College, and serves as co-director of Stars of Tomorrow Children’s Theatre.

Join us for Native American Arts Festival Week as we explore humor, comedy and joy in Indigenous artistic expression! Festival Week runs Sunday, June 18 through Friday, June 23rd, 2023. All events and programming are free and open to the public, and will take place around our beautiful Idyllwild Arts campus.

Our Native Arts summer programming is also running from June 12 – June 30, 2023. Check out the "Currently" highlight to learn more about special workshops and for enrollment information.

Idyllwild Arts rolled out the red carpet, dressed to the nines and had a blast as we recognized the next generation of storytellers, led by powerhouse @catacombo, chair of our remarkable film department. 🎬 🤩

The 1st Annual IdyFilm Awards was a Hollywood'esque production envisioned, materialized and executed by @idyfilm students! The evening opened with an electrifying medley from leading lady @brynnschneider_ and company. Our charismatic hosts, @andrerealoficial & @nicoleflorencia_oficial ushered the audience through the fun, as we had a chance to screen four of the best student films, enjoy heartfelt words from beloved presenters, and share the joy of students celebrating each other's wins.

Some notable accolades were Best Leading Role, awarded to @nobellesinclair. @molly.woodly swept with Best Screenplay, Cheap & Cheerful, Best Directing and the coveted Best Picture for her film 'Carry On'. @arsuuushka, one of masterminds behind the event production took home 3 awards with Best Lighting, Best Editing and Best Sound Design. Each category was voted on exclusively by their peers. We want to congratulate ALL of these amazing students, the nominees and the winners. Impressed is an understatement.

As a few students pointed out, this was simply practice for when they get their Oscars in the future 🏆😉 We can't wait to see what these talented filmmakers create next.

🖋 This year’s cohort of graduating Creative Writing majors may be small in number, but the impact they’ve had on the class of 2023 is substantial!

These three impressive students have spent their time at Idyllwild Arts developing their voices, techniques and skills as writers, while sharing impactful stories, beautiful prose and moving poetry. If you’ve leafed through a Parallax, IAA’s literary and art magazine, you’ve experienced the power of their words and editing.

Congratulations to DiLuca Cappelletti, Josephine Sporte (2023 Valedictorian) and Inseo Yang (recipient of the 2023 Outstanding Arts Department Award for Creative Writing).

Here’s to the power of storytelling. As you embark on new chapters, may your words continue to inspire, provoke, and illuminate.

From Chamber Music to Jazz Combos, Vocal Concerts and a very special Concerto Competition, our music department has been sharing a symphony of sheer talent 🎹🎺🥁

The six finalists of the Concerto Competition dazzled the audience and adjudicator alike as they took the stage with flair, passion, and precision—so much so that it made the task of choosing our winners a happy challenge for our judges. A big congratulations to Seoyeon Bay who came in 1st, Robert Nael 2nd and an honorable mention to JV Zamoyta.

Bravo to our incredible music department and educators all around! Their dedication, talent, and commitment to excellence continue to inspire us all, proving that the language of music knows no bounds, and unites us in the most beautiful way. 🎻🎉🌏

Annnnnd, that's a wrap! The cast and crew of Bat Boy: The Musical graced our community with four showings of the epic 2-act horror rock musical last weekend. 🦇🎸

There's still a buzz around campus about what you thought was the best song, your favorite part of the show, and the funniest scenes...

Bravo to everyone involved in this high-quality production. We have to admit, we haven't quite been able to get 🎶 HOLD ME BAT BOY 🎶 out of our heads!

On Friday evening, we enjoyed the opening reception for SUBLIMINAL, our 9th and 10th graders' gallery show including a variety of media and dimensionality. 🌬

Tomorrow, May 18th, is the last day you can enjoy their works being displayed at the Parks Exhibition Center on campus. 🖼

Subliminal means "affecting one without noticing." We all change subliminally as humans and artists as we find inspiration and motivation from our environment, our teachers, our friends, and other artists and art forms. This year's Visual Arts 9th and 10th graders are proud to showcase how they have polished the basic techniques they have learned, and how they are developing into unique artists with broad ideas.

Please join us in celebrating their beautiful works, appreciating their deep effort, and perhaps you'll walk away with some new inspiration of your own!
