Dance Audition Requirements
Are you an artist whose hopes, dreams, and inspiration manifest through motion and movement? Dancers at Idyllwild Arts receive an unparalleled experience that combines dance training in various styles balanced by insightful mentorship and an uplifting community that nurtures passion and strengthens resilience.
Requirements
Create a 2 minute video showcasing your favorite style of dance. The video should highlight:
- Floorwork (if applicable)
- Musicality
- all solos must show flexibility, 1 jump and 1 turn
Additionally, you may include a ballet barre/center work segment (up to 2 minutes) featuring:
Barre Work
- Pliés
- Dégagés
- Rond de jambe
- Grand battement
Center Work
- Tendu with pirouette
- Adagio
- Petit allégro
- Grand allégro
Center Work
- Échappé
- Relevé retiré
- Bourreé
- Piqué turns
*Students may also complete the audition process by attending a scheduled class on campus or by participating in a regional audition event.

Submission Guidelines
Submissions should be uploaded to a file sharing/hosting site such as Google Drive, Dropbox, YouTube, Vimeo, etc. Copy and paste the link(s) to your submission(s) in your application in the relevant field. Please be sure to set your permissions to allow us to view your files.
For those submitting several works, please either combine them all into a single file (such as a PDF or Powerpoint) or add them all to a folder in your chosen file hosting site and submit the link to the folder rather than submitting links to each item individually.
