Catherine Alderete is a filmmaker and Visual Arts (Media) graduate from UC San Diego. She has produced several short films, including directing and writing her thesis project titled La Paloma, which was selected for the 31st San Diego Latino Film Festival. She also enjoys researching film history, and another portion of her thesis project included curating her own film archive exhibition, titled “Dreaming in Black & White: American Film Noir,” where she collaborated with the USC Warner Bros. Archives, the Academy Archives, and the UCLA Special Collections Library. Previously, she worked for PBS and World Central Kitchen and is ecstatic to join the Idyllwild Arts community!
