Nikki Abban
Nikki Abban is a writer, filmmaker, and educator driven by curiosity and a desire to find truth. Nikki has worked on productions for CNN, PBS, and independent productions including her work as an associate producer with Emmy award winning filmmaker Kristi Jacobson and her producer work on the 2019 documentary Uncivilized. She is currently developing her directorial debut, an autobiographical feature-length documentary that explores her return to her ancestral homeland of Ghana. Nikki holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pittsburgh in Communication with a minor in Film Studies, and a Master of Science from Johns Hopkins University in Secondary Education in English and Special Education. In the education sector, Abban has taught English Language Arts to middle and high school aged students in rural and urban areas in the U.S., Morocco, and Ghana. As the Director of Resource at Idyllwild, Nikki will leverage her global perspective, empathetic approach, and commitment to culturally relevant, differentiated instruction to support students with diverse disabilities and learning styles.
