Junior Dance Intensive

10-13*

Focus on the fundamentals of becoming a complete dancer without the pressure of an audition! Immerse yourself in the art of dance with daily classes in Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre Dance, and Choreography. This program is for students with at least 1-2 years of dance experience, but who do not feel ready for an auditioned program.

Note: Students aged 12-17 with additional experience should look at our more advanced Dance Intensive workshop, which does require an audition.

Curtain Up! An Adventure in Theatre

10 – 13*

This exciting two-week program is designed for enthusiastic and motivated actors, both newcomers and seasoned performers alike! All are welcome, and we have something for everyone. The culminating performance will be inclusive of all levels of experience and talents.

Drawing & Sculpture for Junior Artists

10 – 13*

Discover the beauty of the mountains as your creativity comes alive in the forest. Each day, you’ll spend half your time learning the fundamentals of drawing, exploring traditional techniques that will help you see the world in new ways. The other half of the day will be dedicated to sculpture, where you’ll design and build imaginative three-dimensional artworks inspired by nature and your own creativity.

The Joy of Art

10 – 13*

This week-long program is designed to introduce students to new, bold, and unconventional ways of creating three-dimensional art. Young artists will discover the joy of making one-of-a-kind designs, exploring their creativity through texture, form, and imagination.

Photography for Junior Artists

10 – 13*

Get a hands-on introduction to the technical and creative foundations of  black-and-white photography. Using a pinhole camera, 35mm camera, and large-format 4×5 camera, you’ll learn how to control exposure through aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. You’ll shoot on black-and-white film, process it by hand using traditional chemical methods, and produce gelatin silver prints in the darkroom. Along the way, you’ll develop a working knowledge of light metering, depth of field, and contrast control.

Junior Instrumental Intensive

9 – 13*

Get ready for a one-of-a-kind summer music camp experience in this innovative intensive for strings and piano. Centered around individual lessons, masterclasses, chamber music, and ensemble work, this program is for late-elementary and middle school students who want to build on the skills they’ve learned throughout the school year, led by Idyllwild Arts Academy instructors and seasoned professional musicians.

Junior Inventor's Shed

Explore digital fabrication, rapid prototyping, and hands-on design through projects that blend art, technology, and imagination. No prior experience is required, just curiosity and a willingness to build, experiment, and innovate.
