This course is designed for both incoming and current students, offering an opportunity to get a head start on their math learning, continue their progress from the previous school year, or focus on credit recovery. MathLAB allows students to progress at their own pace while participating in live Zoom sessions with their teacher three times a week, each lasting one hour. To maximize the benefits of the Summer Math Program, students are strongly encouraged to engage in independent work outside of the required Zoom meetings.

MathLAB offers courses in Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II, allowing students to learn at their own pace. Students attend live Zoom sessions with their teacher three times a week. Each session lasts five hours, but students are required to participate for at least one hour. During this time, they can ask questions, take exams, or work on their math assignments to ensure they stay engaged and on track.
Unlike traditional in-person summer math programs, which often involve 3 to 4 hours of daily instruction over 4 to 8 weeks, mathLAB emphasizes flexibility and personalized progress. To maximize the program’s effectiveness, students are encouraged to complete independent work outside of the Zoom sessions. This ensures continuous progress and a stronger grasp of the material. Students can select either a four-week or six-week program based on their needs. Whether they wish to get ahead, catch up, or recover credit, mathLAB offers a tailored learning experience to help students succeed.
We will send the Zoom Link a few days before class is scheduled to begin.

My name is Amanda Baumann, and I’m the mathLAB teacher at Idyllwild Arts Academy. I’m also a proud new mother to the most adorable little boy! I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics with a focus on Education from Cal Poly Humboldt. For the past two years, I’ve been part of the Idyllwild Arts Academy community, where I also serve as a dorm parent. Teaching MathLAB is especially rewarding because it allows me to connect with students on a more personal level and adapt to their individual learning needs.

Welcome to The Young Writers Workshop, an ONLINE creative writing studio with Brendan Constantine. In these sessions (for beginning and advanced writers), we’ll explore poetry and storytelling, their history, and even create the genres of the future. No previous experience is needed. The final Saturday will not be a regular class but we will have a virtual, public reading of our work together.
