Summer Program FAQs for Adults

General Questions

Most classes run 9:00am-4:00pm, with a lunch break from 12:00-1:00pm (included in your tuition). 

  • H.O.T. Clay and  Metals Week: Sunday morning- Saturday early afternoon.
  • Writer’s Week, and most Native American: Monday morning- Friday afternoon.
  • Music and Theater: Sunday afternoon- Friday afternoon
  • 2D & Mixed Media: varies depending on the workshop
  • Extended studio hours: run from 5:00pm- 10:00pm and can be extended to 11:50 pm by reservation with the studio manager.

Outside of class, students can look forward to the following weekly campus events:

• Monday night Gallery Opening Reception that features faculty work (for sale!). Gallery receptions may be preceded by an artist lecture.

• Friday afternoon culminations to showcase student work made during the week!

• Weekly craft talks, artist lectures, and readings.

Class sizes may vary depending on the program, but are typically no more than 12 students per instructor. The majority of our H.O.T. Clay and Ceramics programs are limited to 10 students, while our Writers Week program is limited to 8 students per session.

Workshops may also have 1-2 Teaching Assistants to help provide additional support and instruction for the students.

We are excited to offer a range of offerings for younger children ages 5-13 in our dynamic Children’s Center! Children can be enrolled in Multi-Arts (ages 5 – 7), Artist Discovery (ages 8 – 10), Uke Can Do It or the Joy of Art (ages 11 – 13), which run from June 16 -27. Classes are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. Additional programs and ages for the month of July can be found on our website

If you’re looking for a room in town to stay during the duration of your workshop, we recommend our partners at:

Tahquitz Pines Retreat, Idyllwild Inn, New Spirit Vacation Homes, Idyllwild Bunkhouse, Silver Pine Lodge, Creekstone Inn, and Idyllwild Grand Lodge.

Registration Questions

Registration for the 2025 summer season will open on Saturday, February 1st, 2025. Please use this link to register: idyllwildarts.org/register

If you have previously made a Regpack account and remember your credentials, you may log in using your existing username and password. You will need to complete all required forms with each registration season. 

Our early bird discount will save you 10% off the cost of tuition when you register within the first two weeks of registration, from January 31-  February 14, 2024.

Members of a Native American Community may apply for our Native American Community, Leaders, Artists, Members, and Teachers Scholarship. More information can be found by clicking here.

We also offer merit-based fellowships for our Writers Week and Piano Performance programs. To apply for these fellowships, please visit our Submittable platform by clicking here.

No, your balance is not due in full upon registration. We offer payment plans to help you pay your balance in installments. Your balance must be paid in full at least 30 days prior to the start of your workshop.

While you don’t need to pay your entire balance at registration, we do recommend you to pay the $50 application fee in order to secure your spot in the workshop you’d like to attend.

Our refund policy is based on a timeline. In the event you need to cancel a workshop, the date that you cancel will determine how much you are refunded. The $50 application fee is always non-refundable. 

  • 90 days prior to the start of workshop: Full refund with exception of 3% service fee plus the $50 Application Fee. 
  • 89- 30 days prior to the start of workshop: 80% refund of cost of program. 
  • 29- 0 days prior to the start of workshop: No refund.

Our refund policy is based on a timeline- this means that if you need to cancel your enrollment in a workshop, the amount refunded depends on the date you are canceling in relation to the start of your workshop.
