Emily Clarke is a Cahuilla poet, bead artist, activist, and traditional Bird Dancer. Emily graduated from Idyllwild Arts Academy in 2018 and went on to receive her B.A. in Creative Writing from UC Riverside in 2022. She is a two time recipient of the UC Riverside Chancellor’s Award for Poetry, a 2022 and 2023 Pushcart Prize nominee, and a recipient of The Hayden’s Ferry Review National Indigenous Poets Prize. Emily currently teaches Poetry at Idyllwild Arts and is ecstatic to return to her poetic place of origin to inspire the student body she was once a part of.
