Unlock the world of game design in two action-packed weeks! Join our High School Game Design Bootcamp and dive into the captivating realm of interactive entertainment. This intensive summer program empowers students to create their own video games using the cutting-edge Unity platform. In this hands-on course, participants will learn the fundamentals of game design, including concept development, level design, character creation, and programming using C#.
Students will discover the secrets behind crafting engaging gameplay experiences and develop problem-solving skills while navigating the exciting world of game development. Our experienced instructor will guide students through the entire game design process, from concept to a playable prototype. By the end of the two weeks, participants will have a functional game to showcase and share with friends and family. Whether you dream of becoming a game developer or simply want to explore your creative side, this two-week summer program is your ticket to mastering Unity and bringing your game ideas to life. Join us and turn your passion for gaming into a hands-on reality!
Our Visual Arts classes do not require any type of assessment or portfolio to get into the program. Instructors will work with your child at the level that they are at. Foundational drawing and sketching skills are helpful in this course to ensure that students are able to create artwork that they are happy with.

We will start the day working on an exercise that focuses on the topic(s) covered the previous day. After the exercise new topic(s)/technique(s) will be introduced. Most of the day is spent working on a project that relates to the topic(s)/technique(s) covered. When needed, additional mini exercises will be presented throughout the day. Students will be focusing on solo game projects. Our typical day starts at 9am and ends at 4pm, with an hour break for lunch, and small 10-15 min breaks will be given in the morning and afternoon to step away from the computers. By the end of the week students will have a finished project that they can show to friends, family, and the community.
This class will focus on the software Unity3d. Unity – Is a game engine software used in the development and distribution of games and animated films, as well as being used in the automative, architecture, manufacturing industries for visualization.
Jonathon Kaufman has been teaching Game Design and 3D Animation since 2020. Jonathan earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Game Art & Design from the Art Institute of California Sacramento and is currently teaching Math, Computer Game Design, and 3D Modeling at Idyllwild Arts Academy.
