2022 Summer Programs registration is open for Kids Programs & Teen Programs for ages 5-18. These programs will run from July 3 to July 30, 2022. Our programs are filling up fast, so please apply soon if there is availability in the program of your choice. We have both residential and day programs options and our program offerings include one-, two-, and four-week sessions.
Junior Artists
Igniting the Creative Spark (ages 9–13)
Junior Artists workshops provide life-changing experiences for middle school-aged kids eager to unleash their creative spirits. Junior Artists learn and explore in a positive environment and develop their individual creative expressions. Students will immerse themselves in art while professional artist-instructors guide their intensive, hands-on experiences. The low student-to-teacher ratio – 9:1 or better — ensures individual attention and support. Junior Artists will find meaningful inspiration and new ways to tap their limitless creative possibilities.
Children’s Center
Inspiring Art in Children (ages 5–8)
Children’s Center offerings provide a nurturing environment for children to explore creativity and performance. Professional artist-educators spark students to discover the joy of self-expression. The Children’s Center faculty provide technical instruction balanced with strong encouragement and inspiration.

Our dining hall staff are used to dealing with specific diets, it is the same staff who feed the 300 teenagers that attend the Idyllwild Arts Academy for 9 months out of the year. There are always vegan and vegetarian options and gluten-free choices as well.
- Healthy hot and cold options for each meal
- Fruit and salad bar
- Gluten-free options (students will need to ask for these)
- Vegetarian options
- Allergens like nuts, honey, etc. consistently posted for meal selections

How do I let Idyllwild Arts know about my child’s food allergies and dietary restrictions?
All campers are required to complete a Health History Form, this form will ask about allergies and any other medical conditions the nursing staff will need to know. Any food allergy information will be given to our Dining hall. Our dining hall is able to accommodate these dietary needs.

The current health crisis is ever-changing and best practices for safety are constantly evolving. At this time, we anticipate the following processes to help keep students safe. Guidance from state and local authorities will determine actual policies in Summer 2022.
We ask that students start exercising increased precautions (stay at home as much as possible, wear masks in public spaces, increased hygiene practices) two weeks before arriving on campus, and to continue to exercise as many precautions as possible while traveling to Idyllwild. Other safety regulations include:
- Requiring students to either provide proof of vaccination or negative COVID test results before arrival to campus. More detail to be provided closer to the start of the program.
- Holding smaller classes in well ventilated or outdoor spaces.
- Three students per dorm room.
- Staggering Dining Hall meal times to accommodate smaller groups of students at a time.
- Daily Health Symptom screenings.
- Social distancing rules and wearing masks at all times on campus.
Students who do not follow all health and safety guidelines will be subject to school discipline, up to and including being immediately dismissed from the program and sent home.
Due to the increased cost of running programs during the pandemic, we will not be offering marketing-based discounts. The Honor Ensemble Discount will still be available – more details coming soon. Scholarships are still available based on financial need.

“Thank You! Drawstring Bead & Quill Medicine Pouch was a new experience, my first time taking an online class. I also have never worked with porcupine quills; I was happy for this new understanding. Navajo Loom Beading/Cuff with Jennifer Ben was just as interesting, intricate and fascinating.
I have come away with a very beautiful Beaded Cuff and a very memorable experience. The real perk — taking the classes with my two granddaughters, 14- and 16-years-old.”
