The Summer Show: Musical Theatre Intensive

Looking to enhance your experience or even take your first dance step into musical theatre? Then the MUSICAL THEATRE INTENSIVE is for you. This fast-paced theatre camp is designed for talented and aspiring musical theatre performers WITH MORE OF A FOCUS ON PROCESS RATHER THAN PRODUCT, although we will have a final showcase.
You will work closely with the director, vocal coach/musical director, and movement/choreographer throughout the workshop process, and be a part of an ensemble musical theatre piece in which every actor will have a moment in the spotlight. Some roles will be more demanding than others but there will be great opportunities for everyone.
You will be asked to submit a recorded video clip of you singing a one minute clip of a song from a published musical of your choice. You should use a backing track with no other vocals on it. We aim to provide a professional audition experience, so come prepared with three songs, sheet music and backing tracks. We also ask that you prepare a short monologue from a musical or comedy that best shows off your talents. Instructors, all working artists with professional credits, will coach you on your audition pieces and help you prepare for the formal auditions on the second or third day of the program. This is a great experience if you’re preparing for a college or conservatory theatre program.
Musical Theatre Intensive is open admission – no audition is required. Instructors will work with your child at their level.
To help with casting, students will be asked to send in a video of themselves doing a 1 minute monologue and sing 16 bars of a song using vocal projection for the stage. Instructions for submitting the video will be sent closer to the start of the program.
Your child will improve and learn new skills, whether they are a beginner or have been acting and performing for years. They do, however, need to be willing to project their voices and act onstage.
We aim to provide a professional audition experience, so come prepared with a song and a short monologue from a musical or comedy that best shows off your talents. This can be the same as is submitted for the video. Instructors, all working artists with professional credits, will coach you on your audition pieces and help you prepare for the formal auditions on the second or third day of the program. This is a great experience if you’re preparing for a college or conservatory theatre program.
